City of Atlanta Eviction Diversion Program

The City of Atlanta has awarded Star-C, a nonprofit, $2 million for eviction diversion assistance for City of Atlanta renters. The program covers up to $7,000 in rental assistance per household paid directly to landlord. No payments will be paid directly to tenants. Must have a hardship and live in the CITY OF ATLANTA. Star-C is only processing payments for rental households earning at or below 60% of area median income, approximately $43,000 for a 1-person household, or $62,000 for a household of 4 living in Atlanta city limits.

For qualified applicants, Star-C will cover rent arrearage or emergency rent assistance due to hardship:

1. Income reduction due to job loss, reduction of hours, etc.
2. Emergencies relating to critical life requirements, such as
    – Transportation, medical situations for you or household member

Some of the Documentation Needed for Financial Assistance: (ALL documents must be included for processing)

1. Applicant’s Photo ID – a copy of either your license, state-issued ID, or government-issued ID.
2. Social Security number for all members of the household. If household members do not have a Social Security number, they may provide their Passport or Consulate ID number.

3. Proof of employment income (gross-pre-tax) for the previous 2 months for each household member 18 and
older which includes wage/salaries, overtime pay, commissions, fees, tips/bonuses, and other compensation OR a copy of the 2022 Form 1040 filed with the IRS for the household.

4. Proof of Residence (Current Lease) – the applicant’s full name must be on the lease along with all members of household; signature page must be provided.

5. Current Tenant Ledger or Account Statement and Landlord Verification Form.

6. Proof of Hardship.
